Succulent Wedding Centerpiece

Wedding centerpieces are very expensive, especially if you want to have flowers or living plants.

I am sharing my wedding prep journey and this succulent wedding center piece project that only cost me $2.50 per table as I had all the supplies from home and only needed to buy a pot/container. Even if you do not have these supplies on hand, I will share some tips that may help you out!

#1: Finding an inexpensive pot/container was very hard. I shopped at numerous stores before finding the pot! For reference - I did stop by Dollar Tree, but I didn't think clear bowls would look nice displaying the soil but that was my last resort if I couldn't find anything for less than $5. After shopping at many places, I found this Natural Wood Container from Hobby Lobby for $5. There are on going store promotions and I happen to make a visit when all containers were 50% off, so I only paid $2.50 each!

Tip: At Hobby Lobby if your store does not have enough in stock (which they did not for my container, they will place an order for you and you can pick up within the following week (free of charge and you will pay the sale price when you pick up!)

#2: The supplies you will need for this centerpiece are a mixture of succulent cuttings, enough to fill your container, and how many centerpieces you plan on making along with soil/perlite mixture and pot/container of your choice.

Tip: If you do not have succulents at home, see if any of your friends, family, neighbors, or co-workers have any cuttings that you can have. Succulents are also very easy to grow, minimal care is needed for most so you can grow them a year in advance to have an abundance! Or, you can check on Facebook, Craigslist, or Next-door to see if anyone is selling succulents for a cheaper cost versus buying from home improvement stores.

#3: You want to plant your succulents about 1.5 months in advance so your succulents can root in the soil and won't be flimsy when transporting.

Lastly, if you are having a wedding reception at a venue. You can make a sample wedding centerpiece like I did and bring it to the venue and see how it will look on the table.
