Beautiful Engagement Cake

I am a cake decorator. This cake is my favorite cake and it was a huge hit. This was for an engagement party. I am doing the wedding cake, but bigger and more elaborate.

Gorgeous...is that fondant icing on the cake? Did you make the snowflakes and if so, out of what? I love to make cakes too and decorate them, am always looking for hints.

Thanks for sending this picture!

The cake is absolutely gorgeous!! I got married last Jan & our theme was Winter WonderLand. Our cake-and decorations-had snowflakes and snowpeople, which I collect like nobodys' business:).

Our cake topper was a handmade ceramic snowman & snowlady kissing.

It is fondant, and the snowflakes are made out of royal icing. I just used a pattern that I found (actually, it was a snowflake stamp), covered the pattern with wax paper and used a tip 3 to pipe. I tried bigger ones, but the royal icing is so delicate that they broke so easy. I made about 100, and about 50 lasted!
I am located in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada
