Save By Involving Your Family In Your Wedding

Use skills that you and your family's have to save money and to make your day and your memories extra special.

  • My brother in-law sang.
  • My godmother sang.
  • I made the programs.
  • My husband's aunt did my make-up.
  • My cousin was our wedding photographer.

The best way to share memories, is by having the ones you love involved.

Thirty years ago, my cousin was my photographer, too. He was a professional sports photographer, so you can imagine how the photo of me throwing the bouquet looked. lol

I totally agree. However, there isn't much for singing talent in my family, my Mom--but she would have been too nervous--same for me.
I did alot of it myself. I made all the corsages and bouttonieres with silk flowers, made the cake topper, bought simple clear glass vases at garage sales and filled them with shredded ribbon and silk flowers for the reception centerpieces. My Mom made my crocheted purse, ring bearer's crocheted pillow, flower girl's basket, fans for the bridesmaids and a centerpiece basket all (except purse) of which the florist then filled with silk flowere. I did have real and silk flowers for my bouquet.
Hubby's brother videotaped the wedding. We did have disposable cameras on the tables for candid shots, but also had a photographer for shots of the wedding and us.
