I once received a little bag of do dads that had special meaning. I'm looking for a site that would have some ideas for creating such a gift to thank guests at a wedding and tell them how much they mean to us. Any ideas?

My then soon-to-be husband and I spent a very pleasant evening in early Jan 2011 filling little organza bags we bought from a crafts house online. We placed the bags at each guests table setting, and the bags were very well received:) He has beautiful calligraphy skills so we used a very nice card stock and he wrote a personalized thank-you for sharing our day note to attach to each bag.
You can spend a lot of money on those little gifts, or you can make them yourself; we used paper thistle, heather, roses, and my husband's family tartan in ribbon to make a small boutonniere/corsage to pin to each bag as a memento of our wedding, we also put wedding confetti, a champagne shaped bubbles and wand, and five sugared almonds in each bag.
Depending on your budget, gear the gifts towards the age and interests of your guests. Ours were all our age, lol, mid-fifties and were pleased to send us off in a shower of soap bubbles while wearing their 'wedding flowers' pins. I also gave each of the ladies at the wedding and luncheon (receptions aren't done in Scotland for the most part, a wedding 'breakfast' or luncheon is the norm) a rose from my bouquet.
When we were looking up all of this stuff in preparation for our frugal wedding, we saw some very elaborate gifts. Everything from mini-perfumes and after shaves, pocket knives, engraved trinket boxes, cigarette lighters, to silk scarves-wow, weddings can be very expensive! Google wedding favours to see what ideas you can find, that's how we came up with the ideas we used.
Our one year anniversary is coming up in January (17th) and we are sending a handmade card to each guest timed to arrive on our anniversary to thank them again for sharing that special day with us; on the card will be a hand embroidered fridge magnet.
Hope this helps, and thank-you for letting me bang on about one of the happiest days of my life:)
Gender neutral, eh, I'm not sure. what gifts were in the one you received?
I have never heard of doing something like that at a wedding. All I have ever heard of is putting a small momento of the wedding at each place setting at the reception.
