When is your wedding? I did a garden motif, found a cute painted wheelbarrow for the main piece, bought 4" ivy starter pots to put in them wrapped with burlap, then put candy raspberries in little tinpails and watering cans trimmed with personalized ribbons. If you use round tables, you can designate one of the seats at random to take home the main piece, or take dibs from moms, grandmas and bridesmaids. Most halls provide the tablecloth linens, so the color can go into chaircovers. I was lucky to have "The Linen Lady" in Anchorage, AK. She custom decorated ensembles for banquets, or just rented out the linens. She worked from home and helped us out to save the most money. Know what you want BEFORE you talk to anyone, they will try to push you into anything if you seem wishy washy.

We went to thrift stores and purchased lots of small candle holders. Votive candles can be bought very inexpesively from Dollar type stores. Then we tossed confetti on the tables. We also bought some inexpensive greenery from our Wal-Mart stores, (but can be bought at most Dollar Stores as well) and strung the pieces down the tables and around the candles.

those little tea candles will burn for approximately 5 hours. I used the tea candles and put them into little glass candle cups that I bought 2/1.00 at general dollar. then I tied a simple ribbon with bow around the top of the candle cups. I decided to go classic and leave flowers off of the candle cups.
I had rows of tables that were 3 together, end to end. I covered them with white and put the candles in the middle of the two end tables. I then set a vase with 3 flowers in the middle of the middle table. These were all set on top of paper doilies. There was two larger assymetrical arrangements at the entrance / doorway amd a matching centerpiece at the bride and grooms table as well as the monogrammed champagne glasses.

When our daughter got married (April) we purchased white netting (inexpensive) and draped it around the edge of the room. In this we strung white christmas lights and I made bows out of bargain table ribbon. On the tables we had purchased clear round 'juice' glasses at the Dollar Store and used votives. We also had confetti and disposable cameras for everyone to take pictures. At our other daughters wedding (Nov) we used the small 'pumpkin' guords and carved them out and used small mums or other small flowers for centerpieces.

Have some friends help out. Borrow vases or similar
items for centerpieces. Or make some little adorable
gel candles with your color for tables.Look in magazines for fancy centerpieces then try making it for LOTS less just get the idea you want. PLEASE try not to stress its your wedding day and you need to

My daughter recently married(Dec. 31, 2005) We used tulle and wired purple heart garland on the windows as toppers and on the tables wired purple heart garland from the Dollar Tree. We used rectangular tables and the garland was just spread down the center of the table. The brides table is the most inmportant spot in the reception so use your best decor there. We used irridesent bell and purple heart garland around the cake, then she lay her bouquet on the table and a few candleswere also added. White lattice panels drape with purple tulle stood behind the table. We had a few green plants which already there spread about the room. Most of the tihings I used at the wedding were from the Dollar Tree including the ring bearer pillow and her garter. We did not use flowers except in her bouquet.

I'm getting married in June, and don't have a bunch of money either. For decorations, I watch the hobby lobby fliers for 50% sales. Also, check ebay or Craigslist.com for people getting rid of their decorations. Ask any talented friends if they can help in lieu of a wedding gift. I have several that are happy to do that & I'm so thankful!

I recently just got married in sept 06 and for my centerpieces I went to michaels and bought little vases they were a dollar each and a floating red rose candle and filled it up with water and at the bottom of the vase I put in colored rocks that you can buy for like 5 bucks and get a big bag of them. It looked really good at the reception with them on top of a mirror with four tea lights surrounding the vase.

Hi Stacey, every room can be improved with a touch of the Orient. I had this theme at a bash in my home. First, go to a shop that sells Asian-style goods. You can see, and get ideas while there. Maybe buy Asian-style banners. Cover tables with black silk,(or cheaper fabric) table runners. Use mirrors, glass, and light-catching objects to reflect energy. Another idea, is to use a Chinese decorative screen for a background. I would also take tall glass vases and fill with "Bird of Paradise" flowers. For favors, you could purchase inexpensive silk boxes in either red or blue, and also give out fortune cookies. A touch of the Orient will make your wedding unforgettable!

Hi Stacey, here is my second idea for your wedding reception. First, envision what you want your reception to look like. I was married on Valentine's Day, so my reception had pink, with maroon tablecloths, and small pink votive candles along with small bouquets of deep red roses. There was "baby's breath" mixed in, but this was in the Eighties,(and out of style now!) If you are getting married in the Fall, you can use avocado green, and a light blue accent color. Buy light-blue fabric, and make your own placemats for each individual. Your flowers for the tables could be blue and green delphiniums and hydrangeas. For favors, give each guest some Jordan almonds wrapped up in light blue organza, and tied with avocado green ribbon.
Another idea for a Fall wedding is using small baskets for your favors-they add texture. On the cake table, place a small silver tea tray with chocolates( store-bought chocolates decorated with an initial in light blue) and this will delight your guests. Shop for chocolates at a candy "outlet" where the prices are lower. It is your day, so be as creative as you want!

Stacey, we saved money at my daughter's wedding by using the favors as the table centers as well. Just use a footed cake plate or two (I would use two if setting 8'tables) place your favors on the cake plate and scatter rose petals around and on the cake plate. You can add candles if you like. We got our favor packaging at ribbonsandfavors.com and were really pleased with the boxes and put our own edibles inside we actually had a hard time choosing because they had such a nice selection.

It turned out really nice, and none of our footed cake plates matched, as we begged, borrowed and purchased. It looked even better for it as the favor boxes tied it all together. We also set a little note at each place to let our guests know that it was okay to take apart the table centers. You could also have your MC announce that as well - bonus - less to clean up.

USE Lanterns....go to places like Michaels..Joanne fabrics for ideas and inexpensive items..sign up for their mailing list get the coupons!! Lanterns..candles..Smaller flowers..all could make great centerpieces.. Inexpensive Glass vases with small type flowers and greenery or real Flowers...carnations..etc many flowers are pretty inexpensive at the florist. hope this helps..Go online..look up inexpensive ideas for wedding..... I went to Thriftbooks.com got 3 books for only 13 dollars .they wer not new but in good condition for my daughter as she has a September wedding coming up.
