We Tied the Knot . . . and It Didn't Cost a Lot!

Serving containers for pretzels.Trying to stick with a $1,000 wedding reception budget is a challenge. So I knew I had to be "extra creative" with reception refreshments so we didn't come across as cheap. I decided to have a pretzel bar.

We served hot, baked pretzels (the kind you can buy frozen in bulk) with cheese sauce and honey mustard dip. The ceramic ware for the sauce and dip were aqua and coral (wedding colors) and included a small pitcher for the cheese sauce and a cute little dip bowl for the honey mustard dip. I also had small, white ceramic scoops which were used to scoop up the seasoned pretzels from aqua plastic tubs. A sign on the refreshment table said "We Tied the Knot" and there was a banner strung across the table with the words "Pretzel Bar."

My favorite serving idea was how the large, hot baked pretzels were served. I came up with the idea of using a tiered, wrought iron candle holder, with multiple candle holders and screwing small wooden pre-cut dowels into the tip of the sconce and then stacking the pretzels on each of the rods. All of the serving containers were purchased at Goodwill on 50 percent off Saturday. Here are pictures of what was used for the pretzel bar.

Some thrift store finds for the pretzel bar.
