Consider large apartment complex community centers ... They are often very nice, of good size and have many ammenties such as a kitchen, sitting areas, etc ...
There are 1000 churches in Grand Rapids, there has to be a few that will rent out their halls for a great price. If it's a summer wedding you could rent one of the pavilions around town (Riverside park/Comstock Park/Rockford/Towsen Park) And like the other person said, community rooms in apartment complexes or trailer parks may not be filled.
