I'm a male US Marine and I'm getting married in a year. I was wondering if anyone could give me some feedback on what I need to plan for it and the type of things to get. Something like a checklist would do perfectly. Thank you for your feedback.

This is unusual, a male planning the wedding. Location, type of wedding you want, attendants, etc. A lot will depend on the type of wedding you are having and the rest will depend on yours and the brides tastes.
You might want to start off by coming up with a theme or deciding on the colors you'd like for your wedding and reception. That way, you can plan all of the details around the theme or the colors you select. For example, if you did a tiffany blue wedding, you would plan your decorations around that, such as shown on this blog:
